About the Authority
The General Sports Authority was established by Decree No. (61) for the year 2021 to establish the General Sports Authority, which was issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the country, may A protect him. The authority was established under the chairmanship of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Vice President The Supreme Council for Youth and Sports President of the General Sports Authority President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee The authority is affiliated with the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, which gives it a major role in setting general visions and goals that make it able to advance the reality of the sports sector in the Kingdom, in continuation of the efforts of His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Affairs and Youth Affairs, National Security Adviser, President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
And based on the decree issued, it will undertake the following tasks and competencies:
- Approval of the establishment, registration and registration of clubs and sports organizations.
- Propose and implement sports plans, projects, programs and services.
- Providing subsidies to private bodies working in the field of sports.
- Financial control of sports federations within the limits of government subsidies granted to them.
- Registration of sports federations.
- Supervising activities and organizing work in sports clubs and bodies.
- Administrative and financial control over sports clubs and bodies.
- Approval of the sabbatical leave request.
Board of Directors
His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Public Sports Authority, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
The Authority has a Board of Directors that was formed based on Decree No. (67) of 2021 forming the Board of Directors of the General Sports Authority headed by His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Public Sports Authority, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and the membership of:
His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the country, may Allah protect him, issued Decree No. (68) for the year 2021 appointing an Executive Chairman of the General Sports Authority, in which Article One appoints Dr. Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar as CEO of the General Sports Authority.

Organizing the sports sector and upgrading the sports system, by providing financial, technical, and adminstrative support to sports institutions and cadres, and strengthening oversight and governane over sports institutions, with the aim of achieving more sporting gains and achivements and raising the name of the Kingdom of Bahrain globally on the podiums in all international forums sports.
